What do you guys think about planting flowers and such in the veggie garden to protect against bugs and such. Likes planting marigolds, etc?

I do it every year, although only in the tomato rows. French marigolds repel nematodes, tomato worm, slugs & a few other garden pests. Nasturtium works well too as it deters aphids, whiteflies, squash bugs & some beetles.
