string mowers

Has anyone used a string mower ? we have a lot of property that is on uneven ground and has rocks and sticks, we would like to clear it for use. I thought we could use on to make the clearing easier

You mean like a DR Trimmer? My parents have one, its the older pull start version. It does some damage to weeds thats for sure but its actually a pretty big pain tying the strings on, they like to come undone and pull off. Im guessing the newer ones have a spindle that takes a roll so all you do is pull more out, which would be perfect. So aslong as the string isnt a pain, they are worth it in my opinion, they arent hard to push and just knock down anything in their path.
