Mrs.Ranch & I were having our morning coffee on the back porch, when this guy showed up ... With 3 new calves hitting the ground this week, I was wasn't taking any chances. Boom!!!

That really stinks Sam. Hopefully those will be the last 3 going down for a while now that your guest is gone.

You misunderstood, the newborn calves are fine... this was a preventative measure as a pack (there is always a pack) will prey on the newborns. The pack sends the young stupid ones out to see if there is any danger before coming in mass (the same goes for feral hogs)...

This is the time of year when the yotes around here get really desperate for food. They love pears...or at least will do anything to get them when they are ripe and other pickings are slim.
Every evening now and for the next couple of months its yotes vs dogs vs pears. Fortunately we don't eat many pears so its just entertaining.
