Made bread.

Made a pot of pinto beans.

Seasoned up chicken fajita meat that I'll grill for supper tonight. I'll also make ranch rice to go along with everything.

Cut the grass.

Watered everything in the greenhouse & then took the ferns (hanging baskets) out & hung them back up on the porches.

Just a few coming up & they're on the skinny side thus far. I think the extended freeze set them back.

Continued cleaning up the garden & forming the rows.

Watered everything in the greenhouse. No heater tonight, it's time to start hardening the flats in preparation for planting.

Yesterday I continued cleaning up the garden & forming the rows.

Today I cut the potatoes & dusted them with sulphur. They can now scab over in preparation for planting.

Refilled the redbird feeders & put out a seed block for them.

Started some more milling.

Continued working on the tractor as time permits. So far I’ve got a lot of stuff I’m replacing including all fluids and filters, radiator, fan belt, hydraulic coupler, alternator, voltage regulator, starter, injectors, fuel pump, thermostat, and a used front grill that I sourced out of Oregon. The prior owners had smashed the front end up pretty good. Quite the bill for all of that, but I payed accordingly when I bought the machine.

I payed my way through college (along with the GI bill) working at the Deere dealership in Bryan. My dad logged 44 years of employment with Deere. I like these old tractors and marks a time when I respected Deere and company a lot more than I do these days.

Made bread.

Went to town to buy some lumber for a lil' project & was shocked at the prices. A 2X12 (12') was $58 & a 2X4 (10') was $14!!! At these prices, I feel like saving the sawdust!!!

Did a little more milling.

Changed all the clocks to DST. I wish they would just leave it...

Made a chocolate cake with white icing for dessert.

Did a little more milling.

Since it on the cool side & windy here, I made 15 bean soup for tonight's supper.

Sharpen all the kitchen knives.

Paint the lower base of the shooting stand. I still have to weld a nut onto the upper arm where I repositioned the elevation adjustment rod, so that will be painted later.

Refilled the chlorine reservoir in the septic system.

Watered the flats in the greenhouse.

Took Dieter to the vet's for his yearly checkup & shots.

Ordered replacement louvered windows for the greenhouse.

Made a butter pecan cake for dessert.

Moved a few more plants out of the greenhouse to the back porch. Afterwards I watered the flats.

Got the garden 85% planted out. 35 tomato plants (all heirlooms we grew out from seed), peppers, cucumbers, squash, okra and a few other things. We haven’t grown a legitimate garden in years due to life getting in the way. This is likely my poorest effort thus far. My tiller needs a new engine so I prepped the soil with the rippers on the box blade. That didn’t do the best job. Used the single row hipper to form the rows. We are using plastic row cover on all the rows. Never used the stuff before, but we had to do something so help with weeds as neither of us has much time to dedicate to garden stuff. We’ll see how this turns out haha.
