Installed the canopy on the smaller tractor after applying ReJex to it.
Researched a new smart phone as my old one's service is being phased out. The new Motorola is on order, as is a rugged case & new micro SD card for it. I hate spending money on this kind of stuff... third world problems.
We always have a ton of them here. It is not uncommon for us to go through 40-50 pounds of sugar per season. I just filled the feeders this morning & as you can see, they're for the most part, empty. I just took these through the front window & every feeder up is swarmed:
'Bird Watchers of America' said the average hummer consumes .46 ounces of nectar per day, so using that formula (224 ounces divided by 0.46 per day) we estimate that there are 487 birds here right now.
At the peak of the migration we will have about 1000 birds per day (based on previous years).
Wow, that cold front really dropped the temperatures!!! Yesterday morning was cool, but this morning is almost cold... 55 degrees. I guess the hummingbirds will be gone by the time the sun comes up. UPDATE: Yeah, only about 30 birds flying here now.
Receive the magnetic phone mounts for the vehicles.
The issue then become where to mount them. As all the vehicles have a leather-like finish plastic dash (which is not a good surface for adhesion), I picked convenient spots for us & used a 1" 'Forstner Bit'' to cut an 1/8"deep smooth surface to accommodate the aluminum bases. I'm now waiting to see if the supplied 3M tape holds them, if not I'll use my go-to adhesive (Lexel) which bonds to anything. I also mounted one on the tile wall of the kitchen desk where I'll charge our phones.
Other than the above, I sat on the porch drinking margaritas, enjoying the cool weather with Mrs. Ranch & playing football with Dieter. Life is good!!!
