Hey everyone! I’m home from south Texas. The ranch is finished for the year with their commercial hunting. I absolutely had a blast skinning deer and hauling guts off. Lol. I meet hunters from all over the country;Florida, Alabama,South Carolina,Maryland, Oklahoma,Montana,Wyoming,Michigan and of course Texas. Some big deer were shot under extreme high temperatures at times and dealing with a gas pipeline put In across the ranch. The hospitality is second to none and guides are top notch. For those who may have forgot, my wife passed away last year and I had to get away from our country home. With many hours of talking to others and many prayers, I’m ready to get my place back in shape ( I left April 1st) and start a Spring garden. I have planted my onions. I leave tomorrow to spend time with family and friends. I look forward being back on the forum. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a peacefull 2026.

Tried a new to me recipe for breakfast quiche. It was pretty good, but it was a PIA to make. Bread cubes, onions, green peppers, artichoke hearts, pimentos, cheese, milk & eggs.

Made 2 loaves of garlic bread.

Seasoned up & smoked a 3" sirloin for our suppers.

Put out another roll of hay for the cattle.

Went to town to pickup mineral & salt blocks for the cattle. Then hit the bank, package store, cigarettes & filled up my Jeep.

Moved the 'Star of Texas' hibiscus' into the greenhouse. I got to water the hanging baskets tomorrow & get them moved as well.

Aired up the tires on the tractor.

Fed the cattle & put out the mineral/sulfur blocks & the a roll of hay.

Re-potted 3/10 of the hanging baskets, then watered all of them & put them in the greenhouse.

Burned the trash.

Yesterday was cold & windy, I didn't even want to do the weekly shopping but I did... it was a madhouse out there.

Grandson came to feed the cattle for us.

Most of cold has moved on. It's a beautiful day here, a sunny 70 degrees.

Ordered the parts to keep the Weber kettle in peak condition for the coming season. Some of the prices almost made me choke, but it is what it is...

Made another quiche for tomorrow's breakfast.

Went to doctor's office to get my blood work done, then stopped at feed store to pickup a couple of molasses tubs for the cattle.

Started cleaning the Weber Kettle so it's ready for the incoming parts.

Cleaned, painted & oiled the tank scale on the Weber Genesis gas grill. I hope it works, as the replacement part is an overpriced $70 + S&H...

Picked up another load of cattle feed.

Received both of the new grates & the charcoal basket for the Weber Kettle, so that grill is done... I still have to finish the deep clean of the Weber Genesis grill.

Amended the soil in the porch pots & planters with vermiculite, Ironite & fertilizer so they're ready to go. The vermiculite will absorb water so hopefully I don't have to water them so often.

Wire-wheeled the corrosion off of the aluminum end caps on the Genesis grill.

Prepped a pot of pinto beans for tomorrow.

Yesterday it was still cold & drizzled rain all day (0.18" total), so I was down to just cleaning ashtrays & planter pots...

Grandson came to feed the cattle for us.
