Finally got the board flat. It was really cupped. With something like this, you can’t clamp from the top and expect the cup to go away. You have to clamp from the sides and machine it in its natural position. For the first side anyway. After you have one flat side you can flip and clamp from the top.

Most people would have thrown this thing in the wood stove lol. I think it was a wedding gift to us and happy to bring it back. Next up I will pour epoxy into all the cracks and voids.

It was a busy day here, being New Years Eve, many places are closing up shop early.

Fed the cattle & put out another roll of hay ahead of the incoming cold front.

Unloaded the molasses tubs (I'll put them out in the pastures tomorrow.

Ran to the feed store to pick up a load of feed.

Started a loaf of sourdough rye bread that I'll bake tomorrow.

The bugs are done cleaning off our grandson's buck skull so I started prepping it for a skull mount.

I wish everybody a happy and prosperous 2025. This year has been a tough one for us. The pillar of my life left me yesterday after a 43 year battle with Parkinsons. I am hurting now but I will recover knowing that the love of my life is no longer in pain.Every where I look I see and feel her presence.I know she is now with others that love her and in the arms God.

Applied 2 coats of sealer to the antlers of the skull mount.

Burned feed sacks.

Watered everything in the greenhouse.

Tried to take the family fishing this morning, but the weather turned nasty. Left early, stopped off at the fish market on the way out. Got bored when we got home so I messed around in the shop. Ended up with picture frame of the day and stuffed flounder.

Fed the cattle.

Loaded up & delivered a bull calf to the grandson for his 2025 FFA show competition. Last year he came in 2nd place because the Grand Champion's parents bought their kid a high dollar show animal. I can play that game too, just to level the playing field. His momma said he'll be ecstatic when he gets home from west Texas & sees it in the pen. We still need to castrate it...

Seasoned up 2lbs of pinto beans & got them soaking for tomorrow.

Ordered the caladiums for the back porch pots.

Hung a new warning sign on the house gate.

Also finished grandson's skull mount.

It was 70 degrees at 0500 this morning, but wait till later... we have a strong cold front inbound & tonight is forcast to be 28.

Made a big pot of pinto beans & threw in 2 lbs of sausage. Also made a double batch of corn bread to go with it. I took both down the road for their family supper. Also brought the skull mount down for my lil' helper. "Damn!!!" & a big smile, life doesn't get much better than this. 👍👍👍

Plugged in the heat lamps in the well house. The temperature is dropping pretty quick, now we settle in. Winter has arrived here.

This reminds me of Luke's Cub Scout years and the Pinewood Derby race. We ran a decent car the first 2 years, but got absolutely smoked by a couple of the dads 2 years in a row. I soon found out that they were buying and using custom wheels and axles from this dude on Facebook that specialized in illegal wheels and axles. Like you say, two can play that game.

I devised a plan to outcheat the cheat and came up with a method to inset jewels (like the type of jewel inside a watch) inside the wheel and then a custom machined plug to hide them. Sourcing the right size jewel was almost impossible, but I got lucky and found some. The finished wheels were flawless. Then I added in some custom machined axles that used the original head of the kit axles so that you wouldn't notice visually. I sourced the best watchmaker's oil to lube them up. Then, I built a test track in the house to tune the car.

Finally got around to putting the molasses tubs out & then put out another roll of hay for them. A smart man would have done this yesterday before it got this cold (it's 29 degrees & windy). Even my fingernails are numb...

Made a pot of pinto beans for us since Mrs. Ranch is making enchiladas for supper. I'll make the rice later this afternoon.

Went for my yearly physical. Doc said I'm good-to-go.

Did the weekly shopping.

The internet connection is finally back up here... this is getting past old & Starlink is starting to look like a better option for us...

We received 2.35" of rain yesterday, so I took my old compound miter saw apart to clean it & will pass it on to a friend of ours.

Continued working on configuring a new version of the operating system.
