Went to town for my haircut.

Seasoned up chicken for the next few days suppers.

Made a chocolate fudge cake & iced it with salted caramel frosting for dessert.

Cut the grass.

Watered the garden.

Burned all the cardboard trash that's accumulated.

Cleaned & refilled the bird's watering station.

Treated the fire ant mounds in the yard again.

Made bread.

Did the weekly shopping... had to go to 3 stores again, GRRRR.

811 came out & marked the utilities in preparation for the new underground propane tank. I can't put it where I hoped to so I'm thinking about an alternative spot (I'll have to remove a flowerbed & cap the irrigation line to it).

Removed the flowerbed from in front of the greenhouse to make room for the underground propane tank. I hated to do it, but the yard is pretty congested at this point in time.

Transplanted the Lirope from the flowerbed I took out yesterday to other flowerbeds. Dug up the irrigation valve assembly & set it aside for re-installation next spring.

Made a carrot cake with creme cheese frosting for my lil' buddy down the road.

Switch to Cuban mojitos today instead of my normal margaritas for something different... God, these things will clean your clock & make your babies be born naked, LOL!!!

This morning the guys showed up to dig the hole for the propane tank. After lunch they'll finish laying the line, back-fill the hole & fill the tank before the cost of propane goes even higher. This tank itself is 16' long & 4' in diameter.

With the addition of this tank, we now have 1600 gallons on site.

The cold front blew in at 0700 hrs, with strong enough winds to move the porch furniture. The temperature dropped from 77 to 60 in a matter of minutes & then came the rains (1.87" total). The side yard is going to be a mess & it will be days before I can even attempt to move the excess dirt... On the plus side, this rain will help settle the dirt on the excavation site. I'm glad we had it totally filled it so it didn't float to the surface.

How do they keep those from floating when the propane goes low? Is the fill dirt enough to hold it down?

There about 3 ft of dirt on top of them. The weight of the backfill exerts downward pressure to counteract the effects of buoyancy. Once the dirt settles/compacts, I'll add more as needed... I just checked & there has already been substantial settling, so as soon as I can get in there, I'll add more backfill.

Eventually I'll rebuild the stone walled flowerbed on top of it, which in itself is also pretty heavy.

Still taking it easy today...

Made bread.

Seasoned up a thick sirloin steak that is now on the smoker for suppers the next few days. Tonight it will be served with tater tots & stuffed jalapenos.

Went to town to vote on the amendments to the Texas Constitution & to pick up ranch fuel.

Put a few loads of dirt on top of the new propane tank ahead of the rain forecasted for tomorrow.

Started moving hay from the pastures to the hay barn & got 20 rolls moved to the home site before the cold front & rain arrived. I'll have to finish after it passes. The temperature dropped from 73 degrees to 59 within minutes...

Spent the day spec'in out a new computer build... prices have certainly gone up. I'm looking at a 24 core (48 thread) CPU, 256GB of memory, CPU cooler, power supply, case & video card. Looking like $6K-8K thus far & I haven't even addressed the storage, monitor & keyboard/mouse yet.
