Headed up to Fayette county today with the family. The time has arrived to start making plans to escape Needville, TX. Houston is making its way here much faster than I would have ever anticipated. This poor little farming town is going to be swallowed up by the city in 10 years.
We’re going to visit my Dad’s old home place near Ledbetter, TX. This property has been in the family for 3 generations. My great grandparents landed there with only a wooden chest from Germany. The old place has seen better days, so I’m going to give it a shakedown today to start making a plan.
Made Italian bread & a small loaf of garlic bread.
Mounted a Vortex Viper HSLR 6-24x50 (1st focal plane) scope on the bench rest rifle I built, using a dual quick release base. Then bore-sighted it in with the laser.
Cut the grass. Also did around the barn & the roads.
Watered the garden, asparagus bed, the porch pots, all the trees & the greenhouse.
R & R's the filter in the well house. Then added the salt to the water softener.
Fed the cattle.
Burned the trash.
Went to move the leftover hay into the barn, but the tractor is dead. I thought it was the battery but I tried jump-starting it to no avail. My neighbor came down & moved it for me, so I could rotate the cattle to the front pasture.
Cleaned/refilled the hummingbird feeders on the front porch.
Spent most of the day jacking with rewiring the TV because the satellite receiver died. Mrs. Ranch is learning to deal with streaming as her replacement will not be here for 4 or 5 days. I was hoping that she would just get rid of DISH & save a $100 per month...
Remove the bottom weather stripping on both garage doors as the replacement seals are suppose to arrive tomorrow. Also thoroughly clean the interior of the doors as I have additional insulation on order that I will install upon arrival.
Spent the day taking the online courses to renew my applicator's license. This is painful because they make you sit through the boring BS before you can take the test.
Installed the new weatherstripping on the bottom of each garage door.
