Tending the big smoker today with some friends. Briskets have been on since 0600 hrs over post oak coals. The potatoes, 'pig shots' & 'shotgun shells' will go on later.

Watered the garden.

Put up a suet block & a big seed block for the birds.

Ranch I have been using the Bread and Butter recipe you posted years ago. Everyone loves them. Do you have a dill pickle recipe that they come out crisp? I haven’t made any years as they to me were not flavorful. I have looked at some recipes but still not satisfied with what I found. Thanks…

I have a couple of pickle recipes, although they call for 5-10 minutes in a boiling water canner, which destroys any hope of crispness, IMO.

If you want crisp, try my Icebox Pickles recipe.

Canned 12 quarts of whole tomatoes.

Seasoned up a beef sirloin that I put on the smoker for tonight's supper, along with 4 big red potatoes. It's darn hot down in the party barn...

Harvested more green beans & tomatoes, then we started prepping them for processing. I got a pan of tomatoes roasted & skinned so I'm ready to can the tomato sauce tomorrow. Mrs. Ranch got the green beans ready for blanching tomorrow as well.

Divided a full 5 gallon bucket of green beans between 2 of our neighbors & threw in 10 slicing tomatoes for them as well.

Continued covering the library books. I got another 11 done.

Watered the garden deeply. Also watered the porch pots, hanging baskets & all the trees/lirope as we have 10 straight days of temperatures of 100+ in the forecast.

Blanched & froze the green beans from yesterday. We got 8 more 1 pound bags.

Canned the tomato sauce from yesterday. We got 8 pints out of that batch.

Brought up more potatoes from the party barn & washed them for Mrs. Ranch.

Continued covering the library books. I did 11 more.

Moved potatoes and onions into a back bedroom of the house from the garage as the extreme heat is taking a toll on them. Best sweetest corn I have ever grown. Electric fence paid off keeping the coons out. Picking green beans and tomatoes each day. Will pull remaining corn today. Replanted black eye peas last week and they are coming up. Have increased adding more watering to everything.

Harvested more green beans & tomatoes. Mrs. Ranch prepped the beans & said we'll have another 8 pounds. I prepped/roasted/skinned a pan of tomatoes & turned it into sauce for tomorrow's stuffed green peppers.
