Met with Coast Guard to search for a missing hunter hunting hogs on the intercoastal spoil banks. Coast Guard found him using their FLIR. Got home at midnight and off to work at 3 am......

We went to town to vote in the primaries.

Cut the seed potatoes & dusted them with sulphur. I will plant them tomorrow.

Formed another row (for the soybeans) & then fertilized the 4 rows that I have ready to plant.

Made 2 loaves of bread, 1 Italian & 1 garlic.

Planted the potatoes & ordered 2 loads of finely shredded pine bark mulch for Friday delivery.

Refilled the redbird feeders & cleaned their water trough.

Put out 2 rolls of hay for the cattle.

Took the window covers off in the greenhouse, then watered everything. Also started moving some of the hanging baskets back to the porches.

Started the 'begining-of-the-month' chores.

Made a pot of pinto beans. I also plan on making ranch rice for the other side dish.

Prepped the beef fajita meat for grilling.

Made a spice cake with creme cheese frosting for dessert.

Finished moving the rest of the hanging baskets from the greenhouse to the porches.

Received 12 kilo bags of 'durham semolina' flour from Italy, so we got them vacuum packed for storage. Wheat is up 30% already this month due to fertilizer prices & some countries are stopping the export of grain products...

Received the 2 loads of mulch for the garden.

Made bread.

Culled the tomato & pepper starts, selecting the strongest plant in each pot. I'm aiming to plant them in the garden on/about the 20th.

Cleaned the kitchen sinks & then waxed them per Mrs. Ranch's request.

A chilly 42 degrees & raining (0.53" thus far)

Went to town to get a haircut & then did the weekly shopping (3 stores).

Unleaded gas is $4 & diesel is $5 per gallon. Yeah, this is going to finish crashing whats left of the economy.

Too late to plant potatoes?
I'd go for it, mine went in 10 days later than my normal date. Just bear in mind that if we have a hot/dry spring, that the yield will be lower. It all depends on the weather over the next 14 weeks.

Last spring I planted my potatoes late, but then the weather was ideal & I ended up with a record harvest.

Another cold front blew in this morning (I thought we were done with winter). It was 55 degrees when I woke up, it's currently a windy 48 degrees & dropping. I won't be working in the garden today...

The other day I scored 2 cakes of live yeast!!! I haven't seen it in any of the grocery stores that I've shopped in over the last 30 yrs. It was pricey at $1.69 each!!! Today is the day I've chosen to use them... I made both bread & pizza dough (along with the required sauce).

Moved all the hanging baskets back into the greenhouse, recovered the hose bibbs & drained the irrigation system again ahead of the hard freeze tonight.

Refilled the redbird feeders.
